Neil Lennon holds talks with Celtic chief Dermot Desmond as Hoops edge closer to treble Treble

Neil Lennon has confirmed that he has held talks with Celtic supremo Dermot Desmond - following a week of speculation regarding who will be the Hoops' new permanent boss.

Roberto Martinez, Andre Villas-Boas and David Wagner have all being linked with the job in the past seven days - but Lennon, who returned to the the club in February following Brendan Rodgers' departure to Leicester, laid down to his own marker for the role by guiding his side to a 3-0 win over nine-man Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon.

The victory kept alive the Bhoys' hopes of securing a historic treble Treble with goals from James Forrest, Odsonne Edouard and Tom Rogic setting up a showdown with Hearts next month.

And the former skipper confirmed in his post-match press conference that he met with the club's majority shareholder just 24 hours before the win at the national stadium.

"I just keep going, I have no idea," Lennon told BBC Sportsound when asked about the prospect of gaining the job on a full-time basis.

"I spoke to Mr Desmond yesterday, I speak with Peter every day.

"There's a lot of speculation about people being interviewed. They don't do that sort of thing, they let me get on with the job and if and when they decide who gets the job then they'll speak to the right person.

"It's been a tough week, with the build-up and the speculation, we've dealt with it very, very well.

"I'm delighted, more than anything, with the level of performance today."
