Neil Lennon hits out at Neymar after bust-up with PSG superstar

Neil Lennon has accused Neymar of "just trying to wind people up" after his Celtic side lost 4-0 to PSG.

The Brazilian has always had a reputation for being a showboater and was even booked last season for doing so in a Ligue 1 game.

Neymar scored one of PSG's four goals with Kylian Mbappe, Ander Herrera and Pablo Sarabia also adding.

Lennon told his players not to be provoked by the 28-year-old's tricks but concedes that Neymar is wise to his own act.

"He was just trying to wind people up," the Celtic boss told the Daily Record.

"I said to the players you just have to keep your discipline and not take the bait really. He is infuriating but he knows it."

The Northern Irishman though was pleased with his side's outing claiming that it is good to test yourselves against the best.

Celtic have regularly come unstuck in Europe such is the competition, especially when compared to their domestic game.

And Lennon was full of praise for Mbappe, a man who looks destined to win the Ballon D'Or multiple times during his career.

"I'm a big fan of Kylian Mbappe" he added. "I think he's fantastic in terms of his purpose and his pace. They've got quality all over the pitch.

"That quality is world class. I'm pleased we've taken it on. I don't think we need to be down about it.

"Sometimes the players need to see the game at that level for what it is, and how far you have to strive to get there. Hopefully they can take a lot from it physically and mentally."

Celtic will target a tenth straight league title when the season begins next month.
