Neil Lennon hailed as 'proven' Celtic winner as Robbie Neilson admits Hoops turnaround belief

Hearts manager Robbie Neilson reckons "proven winner" Neil Lennon can turn it around at Celtic.

He's just hopeful the Hoops' fightback doesn't continue in Sunday's Scottish Cup Final against his Jambos.

The 2020 showpiece will finally be played at Hampden this weekend after months of Covid-related delay.

Neilson's men saw off rivals Hibs in the semi-final before Celtic brushed aside Aberdeen last month to join them.

That was just one of two wins in a horror 12-game run that finally came to an end last week with victories over Lille and Kilmarnock in the Europa League and the Scottish Premiership.

And Neilson has backed his Parkhead counterpart to complete the recovery - he just hopes that comes after Hearts scoop their ninth Scottish Cup.

He said: "I've had it as well, you know, when you're under pressure and you have to get results. I still believe Neil will turn it around.

"He's a very good coach, he's a winner - he's proven that over the last 20-odd years he's been at Celtic.

"Every club has little periods when they go up and down, up and down, up and down.

"It's just part of football. Hopefully we can get a result on Sunday, that's the main thing from our perspective and I'm sure Neil will continue to keep fighting like he has done for years and years."
