Neil Lennon gives Celtic transfer update as he shrugs off signing talk

Celtic boss Neil Lennon is weighing up his options amid speculation over a move for Shane Duffy.

The Hoops are reportedly looking to strengthen their backline during the transfer window after the exit of Jozo Simunovic.

Duffy appears to be the prime candidate with claims the Brighton defender has held talks with the Parkhead club.

But nothing is set in stone at the minute and Lennon says the club need to wait and see what will materialise.

Asked about his defensive options, he told BBC Scotland: "We’ll see.

"It’s given us a bit of breathing space but I’m happy with the squad, we just need a few of them to get up to speed.

"But for where we are at the minute we’re doing okay."

Celtic thrashed KR Reykjavik 6-0 as the Hoops sailed through to second round of Champions League qualifiers.

Lennon was delighted to get back to winning ways and heaped praise on defenders Greg Taylor, who scored hs first goal for the club, and Hatem And Elhamed.

Asked about Taylor's goal he said: "Very pleased. It's a great ball by Hatem, I thought he was very good tonight. He looked strong and it was nice to see him back getting 90 minutes under his belt.

"He's been knocking on the door and obviously with him and Jerie (Frimpong) you've got a good two to pick from.

"I was pleased with (Nir) Bitton as well, I thought he came through the game very well, and then Olivier (Ntcham) comes on and shows that bit of class that he has."

Taylor picked up an ankle knock, but Lennon thinks he should be good to go for this weekend's clash against Dundee United at Tannadice.

He said: "Greg got a bang on the ankle but he should be fine for the weekend."
