Neil Lennon gives Celtic title verdict as fired up boss responds to league shutdown query

Fired up Neil Lennon has refused to give on the title race after Celtic were rocked by their trip to Dubai.

The Parkhead side dropped points against Hibs and Livingston while they were without 13 first team players and Lennon following Christopher Jullien's positive test.

Rangers stretched their lead at the Premiership summit to 21 points and it's a long way back for the reigning champions to overhaul the deficit.

But Lennon, who reacted angrily at his press conference to the criticism Celtic received from their trip to the UAE, isn't willing to concede the league is over.

He said: "Well we’ve got to win every game. It’s as simple as that. The players are capable of doing it.

“We were really going well, played well at Ibrox and were the better team.

“And then this has happened.

“So we just have to galvanise ourselves and go again.

“This season has been totally disrupted constantly. We’ve had very little room for momentum building.

“You had the Bolingoli incident at the start of the season, then you had four guys on international duty ruled out- that disrupted our preparations.

“And then we’ve had this, the whole fall-out which I think has been completely over the top."

The recent spike of coronavirus has resulted in the leagues below the Scottish Championship to be suspended for three weeks.

And Professor Jason Leitch has warned the Premiership is in a 'fragile situation' to be completed too.

Neil Doncaster also refused to rule out a null and void option if the campaign was curtailed for the second year in a row.

But Lennon refused to entertain the notion the league would not be played to a finish.

He added: "I have no comment. It’s such nonsense I don’t even have to answer that."
