Neil Lennon given Celtic 'full support' as under-fire manager reveals Dermot Desmond talks

Celtic manager Neil Lennon insists he has the "full support" of the club as questions continue to be asked about his future.

The Parkhead boss has overseen a run of just two wins in nine games, with Rangers establishing an 11 points lead at the top of the Premiership.

While Celtic do have two games in hand some fans have called on him to go, with a banner displayed outside the stadium on Wednesday.

The following day brought a 4-1 thrashing by Sparta Prague, the same result that was inflicted on the Scottish champions in the first meeting.

But despite that run of poor results Lennon insists he has the "full support" of the board.

The manager revealed he'd held a video conference with chief executive Peter Lawwell and largest shareholder Dermot Desmond on Friday morning.

Lennon said: "I speak to Dermot maybe twice a week. I spoke to the two of them today on a Zoom call.

"We're trying to find solutions to what we can do better, not just with the first team but all round the club.

"It was a very productive conversation and I have their full support.

"We're not happy with the way things have gone over recent weeks and I am the head of the football department and the face of the club.

"Peter's the chief executive and Dermot's the main shareholder, they've been with me since day one. Through the good times. and what would be perceived at the moment as a bad time.

"They feel the need to offer suggestions, ideas and vice-versa from me.

"It (the backing) is not surprising because of the relationship that I've had with them as a player and a manager.

"It's very, very close. They're not happy about things, there's no question, and they're honest about things as well.

"But they believe in me and I believe in them."

Celtic face Ross County in the Betfred Cup on Sunday before taking on Milan at San Siro in the Europa League.

They've already been eliminated from the latter as a result of those two thrashings by Sparta.
