Neil Lennon fires Celtic banner warning as he accuses some fans of engaging in 'dangerous rhetoric'

Neil Lennon has accused some Celtic fans of engaging in a 'dangerous rhetoric' with their recent protests at Parkhead.

Supporters have been vocal with the club's recent results as the Hoops find themselves 13 points behind rivals Rangers.

There has been calls for Lennon to be sacked, but the Celtic board have backed their manager and will review the situation in January.

There has been countless banners displayed outside Celtic Park since Sunday's draw with St Johnstone, including one with a "shoot the board" message.

And Lennon has condemned those type of messages and insist they serve no purpose.

He said: "From some sections of the support it is dangerous rhetoric.

"What I will say is we all want the same thing. Those fans want success, the majority of our fans want success. The players and everybody here want the same thing.

"We don't want any divisions. I understand the frustrations and the players are feeling that as well.

"But we don't like that kind of language or expression anywhere near the football stadium. It serves no purpose really."
