Neil Lennon couldn't take Celtic further when he walked out so what has changed? - Hotline

Neil Lennon's second coming to Celtic Park still seems to be THE hot topic on the Hotline.

Nobody in Scottish football can split opinion like the Northern Irishman.

First up was Gordon Ashley, Ayr, said: "Rangers fans should pipe down about Lennon.

"Lenny has 10 times the managerial experience and trophies of Steven Gerrard who will be in a different movie this year with all the pressure and expectation.

Lewis Doyle, Limerick, said: "When Neil Lennon walked out on Celtic the first time he admitted that he couldn't take the club any further.

"So what makes him think he can do so now?

"If Lennon had been successful in England do you really think he would be back in the Scottish Premiership?

"Lennon is just like Brendan Rodgers and if he was still in gainful employment in the English Premier League then the great Celtic fan would be nowhere to be seen."

Simon Henderson, Wishaw, said: "The ones bleating the most about Lennon are all Rangers fans. They are willing him to fail.

"The Light Blues are delighted that Lennon is the new manager of Celtic.

"They had better be careful what they wish for because Lenny is here to blow them out of the water in the next two seasons and lead Celtic to 10-in-a-row."

Pat Thompson, Parkhead, said: "Who are these so called supporters who have got the hump at Lennon being back in the Celtic managerial hotseat?

"Celtic have just sold 52,000 season tickets with many more on the waiting list.

"The Hoops fans clearly aren't unhappy at Lennon's return."

Meanwhile Brian Flynn, Lochee , had a pop at Hoops ambassador Tom Boyd for his rather jocular attitude towards the so-called leaked transfer document.

Brian said "I cannot believe Boyd trying to make a joke of the leak and his claim that Celtic have been so we'll run.

"The bottom line is that the document leak was embarrassing, the contents are embarrassing and the way it was written down was amateurish to say the least.

The Celtic fans have are used to being sold down the river in the summer months but Peter Lawwell has better beware as the supporters are no mugs and won't allow it to continue."

James Robertson, Dennistoun, said: "I read with interest all the stuff about Kieran Tierney having to fulfil his potential by moving away from Celtic.

"Tierney is still a young man and can go on and emulate Andy Robertson in the fullness of time.

"However if you were to ask Tierney about his future then he would probably say that he wants to stay at Celtic win 10-in-a-row and he is going nowhere whilst the club try and achieve a huge slice of Scottish football history."

Meanwhile Ian Semple, Ayr, rang in to talk about Rangers transfer targets.

Ian said: "I am not enamoured with any of Rangers potential new signings.

"The likes of Martin Olsson and Joe Aribo certainly won't put the frighteners up Celtic.

"We need to sign quality and not players who have no resale value and one who up until recently have been plying their trade in the THIRD tier of English football."

On to Scotland now and Alfie Mullin, London, said: "Graeme Scott says Clarke will get Scotland to Euro 2020 but it'll likely be through the play-offs.

"Well Clarke can thank McLeish for that, as it was Big Eck who got Scotland to the play-offs."

Still on Clarke and Jim Robertson, emailed: "When Clarke tells the Scotland Women's team that they need to sort out their defence then they should take it on board.

"Shelley Kerr should listen to the advice given from an experienced coach and not let her players make light of it."

Come on Jim, lighten up as it was a well-intentioned bit of fun from the women who are entitled to enjoy their moment as they are at a major finals tournament after all.

Finally Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, is not impressed with Dundee's recruitment of Gordon Strachan as the Dark Blues technical director.

Stephen said: "Strachan is well past his sell-by date.

"I can't believe that Dundee are giving him a blank canvas as I wouldn't trust him with a blank cheque."
