Neil Lennon brands Rangers 'ordinary' as Celtic boss claims better team lost in Old Firm derby

Neil Lennon reckons Celtic lost to an 'ordinary' Rangers as he bemoaned his team's bad luck in Saturday's defeat at Ibrox.

The defending champions dominated the first hour and forced a number of impressive stops from Gers keeper Allan McGregor.

But after Nir Bitton saw red for impeding Alfredo Morelos, the game turned, and a Callum McGregor own goal earned Rangers a win that moves them 19 clear at the top of the Premiership.

It was a result Lennon feels didn't do his team justice, and he was full of praise for how his team played.

But ultimately he was left disappointed as their title hopes were put on life support.

A frustrated Lennon said, per Sky Sports : "Our goalkeeper had nothing to do today.

"We felt a goal was coming up until the red card which changed the course of the game.

"I believe Allan McGregor got man of the match so that sums up our performance today, we didn't have the luck.

"Rangers have had their luck over the piece, you get that here and there, but I'm not going to criticise the players for that performance.

"They were outstanding today and we made them look very ordinary today.

"We were by far superior and just needed the finishing touch really. We thought it would come the longer the game goes on, they would tire.

"They get a huge break with the goal and with the sending off."
