Neil Lennon bracing for Odsonne Edouard Celtic bidding war as hitman earns another accolade

Neil Lennon is prepared to be inundated with offers for star striker Odsonne Edouard if his form keeps up between now and the summer.

The French hitman earned yet another accolade as he was named SPFL player of the month for January, a month in which he netted four goals in four games for Celtic.

Another four in February have taken his tally for the season to 23, and although Lennon maintains the club are yet to receive any approaches for the man he described as 'world class', he admits it's an inevitability that they will come eventually.

For the Northern Irishman, however, it's a case of crossing that bridge when he comes to it.

"I don't know," he said when asked if Celtic can hold onto their prize asset.

"We have had no enquiries for him but I am sure somewhere down the line for a player of that calibre there will be.

"It (the award) is well deserved. He has been brilliant and so I hope that gives him another confidence boost if you want to call it that."

There has been some talk of a potential move to the likes of Manchester United, with Charlie Nicholas saying earlier on Tuesday that he is good enough to play at the very highest level should the opportunity arise.

And that's a sentiment echoed by Lennon, who says the player is happy to be showcasing his best football at Celtic as they vie for a ninth successive title.

"He is super-talented. He could play in the Premier League and Champions League," Lennon went on.

"At 22 he is has it all in front of him. I just hope he keeps getting better and better with us.

"He is quite laid-back in general. I wouldn't say he is difficult to get to know, he is just shy and quiet and reserved but he does his talking through his football.

"The players love him, coaches love him obviously and the fans love him so he is in a very good place.

"I think he is happy here, he is really enjoying what he is doing. He is having his best season so far here for sure."
