Neil Lennon addresses Celtic loan 'quirk' as he hints at talks over Southampton duo

Neil Lennon is confident Celtic’s plans to combat coronavirus will ensure they emerge fighting from the enforced shutdown.

The Hoops boss aims to limit the collateral damage to their momentum as they chase a history making quadruple treble amidst the ongoing health crisis.

While Scottish football faces up to an uncertain future with the game being placed in lockdown,
Lennon believes they are ready to cope with whatever chaos comes their way.

He said: “These are things we have never experienced before.

“Listen, it’s not exclusive to us. A lot of clubs are in the same position.

“I think we are covered for any eventuality, if the league is postponed or truncated or elongated into the summer. That’s hypothetical so I don’t know but we will be ready."

Lennon doesn’t expect a quick return to action and must check the situation regarding Southampton loan pair Mohamed Elyounoussi and Fraser Forster if the season overruns into summer.

He said: “This has thrown up all sorts of interesting quirks and questions.

“I would need to speak to Peter Lawwell or Michael Nicholson on that subject.

“It’s another thing I will now have to think about.

“There may well be a conversation with Southampton on that.”
