Neil Cox updates Notts County fans on Damian McCrory's fitness

Notts County defender Damian McCrory is facing a race against time to prove his fitness for Saturday’s visit of Torquay  United.

The Irishman has  missed the last two games because of a knee problem that he picked up in the 2-0 win over AFC Fylde at the end of last month.

The injury came as a blow to McCrory who was in exceptional form and while he is responding well to treatment, he may still not be ready to face the Gulls at Meadow Lane.

Assistant boss Neil Cox says the defender will be given every chance to prove his fitness ahead of the National League clash as Notts hope to stretch their unbeaten run to five games.

“We will probably go with the same squad again,” he said.

“I am not sure Damian is going to be fit even though he has been out there on the training ground.

“We will have to wait until Friday before we make a decision on him.

“Other than that, the boys have come through training and it was good to see.”

If McCrory does miss out  he will join Jim O’Brien on the sidelines with the Scotsman recovering from a double fracture of the arm.

The midfielder is now without  a cast, but he is still expected to miss the next two months of Notts’ schedule.
