Neil Brooks' wife granted bail to live in Bali while facing $1.95m fraud charge

Linda Brooks, the wife of former Olympic swimmer Neil Brooks, has been granted bail to live in Bali during court proceedings in Brisbane over an alleged $1.95 million fraud.

Police alleged Linda and Neil Brooks were directors of a sports clothing manufacturing company that made dishonest representations about its success in order to induce an investor to buy 50 per cent of the business.

A Brisbane magistrate today allowed Ms Brooks to travel back to Bali, despite saying it was completely unenforceable for the court to make her return to Australia.

Her case will be mentioned again next month.

In the Brisbane Magistrates Court yesterday, Mr Brooks was granted bail until November and he left the Brisbane watch house on Monday afternoon with bail conditions that allowed him to reside in Hong Kong.
