Neighbours were woken up in the middle of the night before a man was found injured in the street.
An eye-witness told the ECHO she was awoken due to a "commotion" on Coronation Walk in Southport during the early hours of Monday morning.
She said: "He had been causing a commotion in the street." It is believed the man suffered stab wounds.

Merseyside Police confirmed attending Coronation Walk at 3.20am yesterday (Monday).
A police spokeswoman said: "We attended at a property in Coronation Walk, following reports of concern for the safety of a male.
"The male had suffered injuries to his neck and body which are believed to be self-inflicted.
"He was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening, and has been detained under the mental health act."
