Neighbours woken by 'petrol bomb' attack on house in early hours

The front door of a house went up in flames during a suspected arson attack in Tameside.

Emergency services scrambled to Byron Avenue, in Droylsden, just before 12.35am this morning following reports the front door of a house was on fire.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the door and porch were left badly damaged.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said there have been no reports of any injuries.

It is understood an accelerant was used to start the fire and an investigation is now underway into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
