Neighbours who made 'lives a misery' removed from house

Neighbours have been removed from a St Helens property after "disrupting the community" and making "lives a misery".

The force said it comes after it received reports from members of the public in relation to drugs and anti-social behaviour at the location.

Merseyside Police said the occupiers "will no longer be able to disrupt our community".

Taking to Facebook, St Helens Police team said: "Merseyside Police, working with Chrissy Nevitt from St Helens council have successfully obtained a Closure Notice from the courts for 34 Ghyll Grove, WA11.

"This was due to the reports from members of the public in relation to Drugs and ASB at the Location, which was acted upon by your community Police officers.

"The occupiers have been removed from the address with the power of court order and will no longer be able to disrupt our community. Thank you for the support of the residents and partner agencies."

Councillor Jeanie Bell, St Helens Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Safer, Stronger Communities, said: "Working in partnership with the council, Merseyside Police have addressed a significant issue of anti-social behaviour and drugs use within the community which had been making local residents' lives a misery.

"Prevention is always the first choice and our housing team works tirelessly to address these issues and find solutions to avoid anyone losing their home before it becomes necessary to consider closure. But in some cases, such as this, after exhausting all preventative options action is needed to protect the wider community.

"Our Landlord & Tenant Liaison Officer engaged with the occupiers, undertaking several visits in recent months, and has worked with both the council’s homelessness early intervention and prevention team and the landlord in the matter.

"We thank Merseyside Police for their diligence and residents for their patience, understanding and the information they have provided to support this case."
