A cannabis farm has caused fire to rip through a house in Rainhill.
Fire crews were called to a terraced house on King Edward Close after reports of a fire. At the scene, at around 2.20am on Thursday, June 1, they found the first floor roof space was in flames.
After Merseyside fire and rescue service extinguished the blaze, they found a cannabis farm and passed on the scene to police. Officers have since confirmed that they have arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of cannabis cultivation.

Five fire engines attended and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the incident from inside. People living in the surrounding homes were evacuated while crews used main jets to also put out the fire from outside the property.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "The occupants of the home and those living in neighbouring properties were evacuated while the incident was dealt with. Following enquiries, it was discovered that the cause of the fire was suspected to be a cannabis farm located inside the home.
"A 36-year-old man from Rainhill has been arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation. He remains in police custody. If you have information about this incident, get in touch via @MerPolCC, quoting reference 23000468432.
