Neighbours star Bonnie Anderson has admitted lying to police to cover up for her drug addict boyfriend after he fled from cops in her car at 3am.
The actress, 24, shot to fame as a singer on Australia's Got Talent and launched a successful music career before landing the role of Bea Nilsson in the Aussie soap.
However, she found herself in the headlines this week for all the wrong reasons after she pleaded guilty to charges stemming from her bad boy boyfriend Matt Arnautovic's brush with police.
Anderson was accused of failing to inform police that Arnautovic - son of convicted drug baron Dragan ‘Machine Gun Charlie’ Arnautovic - had been behind the wheel of her car when he sped off from cops in Lilydale, Victoria in the early hours of October 22, 2017.
He was accused of dodging a police stop by fleeing at high speed, but the cops noted the number plate and discovered the car was registered to Anderson.
When police tracked her down, she told them she had no idea who had been driving her car and said Arnautovic - who lived with her at the time - had been with her all night.
She pleaded guilty to failing to give information about who was driving her car and failing to give notice of a change in her residential details within 14 days.
During her appearance in court on Tuesday, the magistrate scolded the actress saying: "You lay with dogs you get up with fleas".
Anderson was granted a good behaviour bond meaning she escaped conviction and won't have a criminal record. She was ordered to contribute $500 to charity.
The star's lawyer Rainer Martini said Anderson had shown "misguided loyalty" by trying to protect her boyfriend.
Martini also claimed Arnautovic had been battling a drug problem.
In April, Arnautovic pleaded guilty to a charge of driving in a dangerous manner over the 2017 incident and spent 127 in jail on remand.
