A police cordon was placed around the flats and police continued with investigations.

One resident returned home from work to witness the cordon, Crime Scene Investigation vans, police vehicles and police officers across from his front door.
He said: "I was at work so I didn't see anything but this is a shock. It is usually so quiet around here.
"There is never anything like this."
Another resident said: "When I heard what had happened....well, It's just awful - so shocking."
The “suspected firearms” have been taken away for forensic assessment, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
The cordon was set to be lifted this evening.
