Neighbours were seen running to help a seriously injured motorcyclist as he lay in the middle of the road following a crash on Thursday night (December 8), according to witnesses. The 23-year-old was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries following the serious collision in Walkden.
Police, fire crews and paramedics attended the scene, on busy Manchester Road (A6) shortly after 6.30pm. The motorcyclist was treated at the roadside briefly before being rushed to hospital with serious injuries for further treatment.
The driver of the car involved remained at the scene to assist officers, as the road was completely closed off late into the evening. Police remained stationed at the scene as the serious collisions unit conducted investigations and inspected the badly damaged motorbike.

One woman has told of how she heard the moment the vehicles collided closeby to her house on Thursday night. She says emergency services swarmed the scene in a matter of minutes.
"I heard the crash but didn't realise what it was until I heard the bike revving like mad on the floor outside," she told the Manchester Evening News.
"I didn't see it until I opened my curtains and then saw all the neighbours running out to him. Emergency services arrived within 10 minutes.

"Police were first, then ambulance then a fire engine. I saw the emergency services attending the man on the floor by the bus stop. Blood was everywhere."
On Thursday night, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “At around 6:40pm this evening, officers were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a motorcycle on Manchester Road in Worsley.
"Emergency services attended the scene and a 23-year-old man was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries. The driver involved remained at the scene and assisted officers.
Officers will remain at the scene to conduct further enquiries. Members of the public are urged to avoid the area and plan ahead for their journeys this evening."
Fire crews were also on hand and remained at the scene for around 40 minutes. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service added: “Just before 7pm this evening (Thursday 8 th December) one fire engine from Farnworth fire station was called to reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Manchester Road, Worsley.”
“The crew arrived quickly at scene and worked to make the vehicles safe. Colleagues from North West Ambulance Service treated one man at the scene before he was taken to hospital. Firefighters were in attendance for around forty minutes.”
