Neighbours heard woman's screams as man stabbed to death in home

Police are appealing for anyone who may have information on the stabbing to come forward.

A man has been stabbed to death during a fight in the northern Perth suburb of Alexander Heights, in what police are treating as a homicide.

Police and paramedics were called to the home on Linto Way at 1:30am after reports a man had been stabbed multiple times.

The victim, aged in his 20s, was rushed to hospital but died while undergoing surgery.

A neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said the man lived at the house with his girlfriend and her mother.

She said cars arrived at the house at all times of the day and night.

The neighbour said she was woken during the night by the sound of a woman screaming.

"Initially I didn't hear too much," she said.

"But then it sounded like she [the victim's girlfriend] was notified that her partner had passed away and you could just hear the crying.

"My heart goes out to the family, it's just tragic, very tragic."

Detectives from the Homicide Squad have taken over the investigation. They announced this afternoon a 27-year-old man had been placed in custody and was assisting with the investigation.

They are appealing for anyone who heard or saw any disturbance on Linto Way, or anyone who was in the area between 1:00am and 2:00am, to contact them.
