Neighbours' Chloe Brennan's mother 'to die in devastating Huntington's storyline'

Neighbours ' Chloe Brennan will face heartbreak on the Aussie soap as a tragic Huntington's disease storyline is set to air.

Chloe, who is played by April Rose Pengilly, will find out her mother has the denegerative Huntington's disease.

The illness causes a difficulty in concentration, memory loss, mood swings and personality changes and involuntary jerking, to name a few, and it shortens the life span of patients.

Chloe was already diagnosed with the disease herself, and she then discovered that her mum Fay (Zoe Bertram) had passed it on to her.

Chloe's mum Fay moves in with her and her husband Pierce, with Nicolette as a nurse (C5)

This is yet another blow for Chloe, who recently found out she is pregnant with her husband Pierce's baby, but their marriage is on the rocks.

She asked Pierce (Tim Robards) if Fay could come and live with them so they can help look after her.

But Pierce suggests instead that they get a live in nurse, and he asks Nicolette Stone (Charlotte Chimes) if she would do it.

Fay's condition is already deteriorating (C5)

But he is unaware that Nicolette has feelings for Chloe and asked her out when she first moved ti Erinsborough.

Fay moves in and Pierce and Hendrix Greyson (Benny Turland) are horrified to see how much she has deteriorated, and fear how Chloe will cope with this.

Nicolette stops Hendrix from a potentially disastrous mistake with Fay, and so they realise they made the right choice in asking for her help.

But as Pierce's suspicions begin to arise when it comes to Nicolette's feelings for Chloe, things could be about to become very complicated.

Chloe actress April previously said told Daily Star Online : "Chloe knows this disease is a ticking clock.

"She is brought back down to earth and comes face to face with this disease, she is really confronted with it."

Pierce actor Tim added: "She's looking at her like, 'do I want to bring the burden of my Huntingtons onto someone because it might be years of someone nursing you when you're sick, until the day I die?'

"Pierce wants to be the rock she can lean on, a man that will be there for her, and there through the tough times.

"And it's Neighbours, there's always something round the corner."

* Neighbours airs Mondays at 1.45pm on Channel 5
