Neighbours call police to Boris Johnson's home after hearing shouting and banging

Police were called to the home of Boris Johnson and his girlfriend after a concerned neighbour reported shouting and banging.

A source told the Guardian that they made the call after hearing an argument at the South London home.

The Metropolitan Police provided information about a call-out to a South London address in the early hours of Friday morning in a statement to the Mirror Online.

According to reports, a neighbour said they heard Mr Johnson's girlfriend, the 31-year-old Carrie Symonds, shout "get off me" and "get out of my flat" during the argument, as well as screams and a "loud bang". They claimed they knocked on the door of the flat before calling police.

A neighbour told the Guardian : “I [was] hoping that someone would answer the door and say ‘We’re okay’. I knocked three times and no one came to the door."

When police did attend the scene, they were assured that all occupants were safe and well.

In a recording heard by the Guardian, a woman believed to be Ms Symonds was heard shouting about her sofa being ruined with red wine.

The report quoted her as saying: “You just don’t care for anything because you’re spoilt. You have no care for money or anything.”

Two police cars arrived at the scene and but later left after receiving assurances from the couple that they were both well.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson told the Mirror: "At 00:24hrs on Friday, 21 June police responded to a call from a local resident in the SE5 area of Camberwell.

"The caller was concerned for the welfare of a female neighbour.

"Police attended and spoke to all occupants of the address, who were all safe and well.

"There were no offences or concerns apparent to the officers and there was no cause for police action."

Mr Johnson's team have been contacted by the ECHO for comment.

The Tory leadership candidate is widely expected to become the next Prime Minister after being confirmed as in the final running to lead the party, and by default get the keys to No. 10 Downing Street.
