Neighbours' Alan Fletcher gives assurance to UK viewers before finale airs on Channel 5

Neighbours legend Alan Fletcher has issued a clear message to anyone in two minds about watching the Neighbours finale when it airs in the UK on Friday them, assuring them they'll 'absolutely love it.'

Alan has played Ramsey Street stalwart, love cheat doctor Karl Kennedy in the Australian soap for nearly thirty years, with his family at the centre of some major storylines over the decades, not least Karl going behind wife Susan's back twice, firstly with receptionist Sarah Beaumont in the 90s and then with the notorious Izzy Hoyland in the 00s.

Then came the bizarre storyline involving Susan slipping on milk, banging her head on the floor and believing she was a teenager again!

In his famous role of Karl, Alanh plays a key role in Neighbours' final episode, which has already aired in Australia and will premiere in the UK on 9pm on Friday night. Neighbours returning cast members f or the last show include Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan, who arrived back on Ramsay Street as Scott and Charlene; Hollywood A-lister Guy Pearce as Mike and Ann Charles, who appears as a ghost version of much loved character Madge.

Alan is one of the final stars on screen in the Neighbours finale and he took to Twitter before it went out in the UK, urging people to watch. He posted: "I hope everyone in the UK will be tuned into the finale of @neighbours on @channel5_tv at 9pm tonight. Even if you haven’t seen the show for years you will love this episode."

Replying to him, one fan reacted: "Looking forward to it. I tuned in last week after a 20 year hiatus and was pleasantly surprised. Feel guilty I didn’t support the show sooner as it is very enjoyable. Best of luck for the future.," with another all set to tune in, responding: "I've been watching for the last few weeks. It's been great to see past cast members. My mum will be really upset she loves the show...always kept me updated over the years on stuff that was happening."

While he won't be in Neighbours any longer, Alan will keep the spirit of the long-running soap alive as he and on-screen wife, Jackie Woodbburn have been confirmed for its UK tour.
