Neighbouring houses catch fire in Brisbane suburb of Hamilton days apart, police treating as suspicious

The first fire, at a house on Nudgee Road, happened on Sunday.

Police are investigating if there is a link between fires at neighbouring homes in Brisbane's north, after the two properties caught alight days apart.

The properties, located at 22 and 24 Nudgee Road in Hamilton, are both owned by the same development company Delkins Project 1 Pty Ltd.

One of the houses, a high-set timber home, caught alight about 2:20pm Tuesday, with the fire well underway when at least seven fire crews arrived at the scene.

It has been badly damaged.

The home next door went up in flames on Sunday afternoon and was gutted.

Both properties were unoccupied and nobody was injured.

Development applications are underway on both sites to build townhouses.

In an assessment report on the Brisbane City Council's website the developer said it planned to build 11 townhouses on the properties and adjoining properties, in a development that would also see four pre-1946 homes retained.
