Tributes have been paid to a popular man who died after being injured at his home in Tameside.
John Aldred, 66, was taken to hospital after emergency services were called to his flat in Wood Square in the Fairfield area just outside Droylsden town centre.
Mr Aldred died in hospital three days later.
Police said the case was referred to the coroner's office before a murder investigation was launched.
A 32-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.
The incident happened at around 2.45am on Friday, August 16.
Today (Saturday), neighbours of Mr Aldred, who lived on the small square for several years, described him as a well-loved and popular member of the community.
Chelsea Macnab, 25, said: "We knew him really well. He was an amazing guy.
"We've lived here about eight years and he'd been here about five.
"He had a big family.

"He was really friendly, lovely to talk to.
"He enjoyed going for a drink in Ashton.
"Just an amazing guy, there's not much else I can say. We're all devastated."
Dianne Oldham, 44, said: " We knew him quite well, my partner in particular.
"He had sons a similar age to him. He was lovely.
"We would always say hello and have a chat with him.
"It was a massive shock to everyone."
Another neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: "He was a really nice guy.
"So easy to get on with. And he was very well known and well liked around here.
"We've no idea what has happened but obviously it was a huge shock."
Police are appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious the night Mr Aldred was hurt - or anyone with information - to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Clare Smith, from GMP’s Tameside division said: “We have a dedicated team of officers working hard to establish the full circumstances of this incident and provide answers for John’s loved ones.
“Whilst we have a person in custody, I would like to stress that our enquiries remain very much ongoing and we would appeal to anyone who has any information to please come forward and speak with us – no matter how insignificant or unimportant it may seem.”
