Neighbour with seven cars threatens to call police on man for parking outside own home

An ongoing parking dispute between neighbours has reached boiling point after one neighbour threatened to call the police on the other.

According to one frustrated man, who shares his home with a housemate, things have been heated between the two households for seven years, and have recently escalated in a dramatic fashion.

The unnamed man says he and his housemate have two cars between them. Unfortunately, they have to contend with the "worst parking" situation on the street, having just one driveway while others have two.

The two warring households are said to both have available parking available on the fence line outside their properties, and so the man tends to park at the fence while his housemate will take the driveway.

Meanwhile, their nightmare neighbour, who has a three-car driveway, owns seven vehicles and will regularly park in a way that leaves them without room to park.

Taking to Reddit for advice, the fed-up driver explained their inconsiderate neighbour will "constantly park" their vehicles at the fence line, often taking up the entire fence line and leaving no room for them to park.

The neighbour will also park right behind their driveway and in the middle of the street, blocking whoever is parked in the driveway and at the fence.

They wrote: "We have gone to the neighbors several times asking them over and over to leave at least ONE spot in front of our fence open for us to park. Just one.

"We have told them we wouldn't mind them parking at the fence as long as we too could park there. I have lived with the fact that any friends or family I have over will have to park two blocks down (street parking at the nearest park).

"However, this simple ask is too much. When we ask the neighbor gets all defensive and yells that she can park wherever she wants to and there's nothing we will do about it. However, per city we do own the 10 feet in front of the fence line.

"We have tried to reason with the neighbors. We have put signs on the fence asking them not to park. Nothing works. They take up all the spaces, and sometimes block us in. We have also seen them park at our fence while leaving their driveway empty."

The man - who goes by the username u/DeadCrow221B - recently returned home after a night shift to find - yet again - they had nowhere to park.

Not wanting to block their housemate in - as they had work at 5am - they were forced to park behind three of their neighbour's vehicles.

Although they saw him do it, they "said nothing", only making their anger felt about an hour later when they got into one of their cars and began blasting the horn.

They continued: "They then started texting me telling me if I didn't move my car immediately they would call the cops on me and get my car towed. They threatened to call the cops and have one of our cars towed for an 'expired' tag.

"(We actually have a temporary digital tag, so not afraid) and sent us a 'google map' picture of our house they think proves they have the right to park at my fence."

This is apparently the first and only time in seven years they'd blocked them in and came after years of the neighbour selfishly blocking their cars.

One fellow Reddit user wrote: "I would have let them. They parked without your permission on your property, what do they think the cops are going to say?"

Another advised: "Tow their vehicle every time they block your drive. Don’t warn them, just call the cops."
