'Neighbour demands I limit son's playtime to 15 mins - his laughter annoys her'

An angry neighbour has ordered a mum to limit her son's outdoor playtime to 15 minutes because she finds his laughter to be "very disruptive". The mum allows her young son to play in the back garden when it isn't too cold out - and keeps a watchful eye over him at all times.

But while she enjoys watching her son run around the garden, her neighbour hates it and even threatened to call the police if she doesn't limit his time outside. In a scathing letter, the neighbour wrote: "You just moved into this neighbourhood a year ago, and I wanted to give you time to correct this problem on your own, but you are apparently too inconsiderate to do so.

"Every day this week, when the weather has been nice and windows are open, you proceed to let your small child run free in your backyard and laugh and giggle and carry on without end."

The disgruntled neighbour claims the sound of his laughter not only annoys her but also irritates her pets.

The letter continues: "This is very disruptive for my two dogs and my bird who sits next to the window and likes to look into your yard.

"Perhaps you could ask him to tone it down a bit, or at least limit his time outside to 15 to 20 minutes a day so my dogs can be outside without seeing him run around.

"If this kind of behaviour persists, I will call the police".

Shocked by her neighbour's letter, the mum shared a photo of it on social media, where it has since been picked up on Reddit.

The post has been upvoted more than 32,000 - and has racked up almost 1,500 comments from users who can't believe how someone could be so "entitled".

One user said: "I will call the police. I would let her call the cops, wait and laugh. I mean, what does she even think will happen?"

Another user added: "I'm sure her two dogs are a picture of peace and quiet."

Sharing a suggested response, a third user said: "Dear neighbour, in accordance with local laws and ordinances, I will now mow my yard and run a chain saw anywhere between the hours of 7am until 9pm daily to ensure I drown out my child. Hope this solves the problem."

One more user added: "She can call the non-emergency number, where the dispatcher will proceed to laugh and giggle, replay the complaint, and then send it to the mayor to do something about the happy child next to this b****y neighbour."
