Neighbour allegedly stabs dog during confrontation

A Perth man who allegedly stabbed his neighbour's dog during a heated argument has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty.

According to WA Police, officers were called to a house on Rason Place in Redcliffe, in Perth's east, at about 2:00am on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred when the owner came over to pick up his dog, which was staying at his neighbours' property.

He had another dog already with him.

The neighbour allegedly threatened the man with a knife, and one of the dogs got between the two.

The neighbour allegedly stabbed the dog in the head, left shoulder and torso.

When police arrived, the injured animal had been taken to another house to safety.

The animal was then taken to the vet, where it received emergency treatment.

A 39-year-old Redcliffe man has been charged with animal cruelty, being armed in a way that may cause fear, and breach of bail.

He was refused bail during a court appearance yesterday, and is due to appear again on February 15.
