‘Nefarious’ Scots gangster jailed after cops rumble top organised crime group in guns and drugs bust

A Scots gang member involved in a top-tier crime group which tried to flood the streets with drugs and firearms has been jailed for three years.

Eric Morrison Junior was caged at the High Court in Glasgow after being involved with a serious organised crime group in the West of Scotland.

The 37-year-old’s conviction has been welcomed by Police Scotland officers who helped bring the gang to justice in a major operation called Operation Gadget.

Between March and June last year, officers seized large amounts of cocaine, heroin, Etizolam and mixing agents, worth in the region of £220,000.

Firearms, including revolvers and shotguns, ammunition and grenades were also recovered.

An industrial pill press and hundreds of thousands of street valium tablets were found at a plant haulage and salvage yard in the Johnstone area.

Recently, two of Morrison’s accomplices, David Hough and James Dalziel, were sentenced to a total of more than eight years in prison.

Detective Superintendent David Scott, of Greater Glasgow Division CID, said: “Morrison played his part in one of the country’s top-tier organised crime groups which sought to bring misery and fear to the communities of Scotland and I welcome his conviction and sentencing.

“Disrupting the nefarious activities of these criminals remains a priority for our officers and underlines our commitment to the country’s Serious Organised Crime Taskforce.”
