Neetu Chandra moves Patna HC against Honey Singh's controversial song 'Maniac'

Actress Neetu Chandra has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Patna High Court against singer Yo Yo Honey Singh’s latest chartbuster Maniac, citing concerns over alleged vulgarity in its lyrics and visuals. The petition, expected to be heard later this month, also names lyricist Leo Grewal and Bhojpuri singers Ragini Vishwakarma and Arjun Ajanabi, who collaborated on the song.

Chandra, who worked in Bollywood as well as regional cinema, requested the court to direct the respondents to modify the song’s lyrics. She argues that Maniac "portrays overt sexualisation," reducing women to mere objects of desire. Furthermore, the beauty who hails from Patna, also accused the track of misrepresenting the Bhojpuri language by using it to “normalise vulgarity” and throws "women's empowerment out of the window".

Previously, the rapper had an FIR filed against him over allegations of vulgar content in one of his songs uploaded on YouTube, however, the Punjab government later informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court of its decision to file a cancellation report in the FIR.

Back in 2012, the rapper was slapped with an FIR in Lucknow against for his song Main Hoon Balatkaari. It was filed under Sections 292, 293, and 294 of the Indian Penal Code.
