'Needs a rest' - Nottingham Forest fans nervous over Brice Samba absence

The big news before Nottingham Forest’s final away trip of the regular Championship campaign at Barnsley.

Goalkeeper Jordan Smith made his first league start since January 2018 replacing Brice Samba, who missed the game due to a slight knee problem.

It’s understood Samba’s problem isn’t serious and his absence is nothing more than a precaution with an eye on possible games to come - and had it been a play-off tie, he would have been fit enough to play.

In lining up against his former loan employers, Smith notched up his 50th appearance for Forest.

Fans were understandably concerned, however, at the absence of Brice Samba with the possibility of at least two vital play-off encounters looming, should Sabri Lamouchi’s men secure the point they need to secure their place.

Elsewhere in the side, Lamouchi brought back Michael Dawson and Tiago Silva, while Yohan Benalouane made a rare appearance on the Forest bench in south Yorkshire against a Barnsley outfit that simply has to win if they’re to have any hope of avoiding an immediate return to League One.
