'Needed' - Bolton Wanderers fans outline January transfer window demands after Portsmouth loss

Bolton Wanderers slipped to 14th in League One after losing on the road to Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

Wanderers grew into the game in the first half and ought to have led at the break but Dapo Afolayan's effort was tipped onto the bar by Gavin Bazunu, while Declan John struck the outside of the post.

But Pompey took the lead early in the second half when John Marquis's flicked effort looped over Wanderers stopper Joel Dixon, off the bar and over the line, despite the Wanderers stopper clawing away the loose ball.

Eoin Doyle also struck the bar with a header before full-time, but Bolton were unable to get on the scoresheet for the fourth time in five matches in the division in a 1-0 loss.

After the game, the mood among Wanderers fans on Twitter looked ahead to the January transfer window, which is still two months away from opening.

But taking to Twitter, supporters believe that action needs to be taken to rectify what they see as missing from the Wanderers squad at present.

Scott Wignall wrote: "Recruitment needed in January, hopefully to replace some of the deadwood fringe players. Fingers crossed we have better luck with injuries in the second half of the season."

@MissLaurenKate1 posted: "Hopeful at half time but a really poor 2nd half. Conceded another poor goal and baffled by a couple of the substitutions. Desperately need another striker."

Andrew Broome wrote: "By all accounts a much improved performance from the last 3 games, but we’re missing that something in front of goal, as you could argue we have for the last couple of months. My biggest thing, as it has been all season, is a clear and obvious lack of a #10"

@JakoBWFC posted: "An ok performance it has to be said. Just highlights that we have no real depth in some positions. Surely Polititc has to be in Evatt's mind going forward. He could play anywhere in that front three."

Finlay Geear posted: "Wow January is massive for us nowhere near enough depth in this squad to be competing in this division."

Graham Down wrote: "We just can’t score goals. We rely far far to much on Dapo to get the goals. That has to be rectified in January. Would take the pressure off the defence if we could actually go in front imo."

Andy Bebbington wrote: "I still have no idea why we didn't break our back to sign Kioso on loan before he went to MK Dons.""

Gary Jackson wrote: "Unless we find the funds for a striker and a right back in January I’m looking down rather than upwards. Glass still half full though we are too good to go down."
