'Need a miracle' - Arsenal fans fear the worst after drawing Newcastle United in FA Cup

Arsenal fans are in pessimistic mood after drawing Newcastle United in the FA Cup.

Magpies fans may not be in the highest of spirits themselves these days, with plenty critical of Steve Bruce's style of football, but it appears that Arsenal supporters make them favourites for the FA Cup third round tie.

The Gunners are holders of the trophy after beating Chelsea in the final last season but they have been in woeful form recently, with Sunday's loss to Wolves their fifth defeat of the season already.

Arsenal have won just one of their last six matches - and the FA Cup draw has left fans feeling low.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta blamed the defeat against Wolves for an inability to take chances and admitted his side's form is becoming worrying.

"Obviously I am really concerned," Arteta told Sky Sports. "I am responsible for that, but I must say the reaction the team had, the way we played second half, was what I expect from them, but at the end the desire and willingness to go and get a result was there.

"We have to put the ball in the net. We create the chances, but in the end it's putting the ball in the net. In the first half they have two shots on target and score two goals.

"When we had the chances, we didn't. The goals will come, we have to insist, and we have to keep pushing the players and believe in them."

If the Gunners' run continues, then there is still the possibility that Arteta will not be manager by the time they face Newcastle in the FA Cup.

Whilst Arteta insists he is not worried about his future, he admits that there could be a debate over how long he remains in charge at the Emirates for.

"It’s something that the day I decided to be a coach I know that one day I will be sacked or leave the football club," said Arteta.

"I don’t know if it’s the day after I sign my contract, in a month’s time, a year’s time or six months’ time. I never worry about it.

"My only concern is to get the best out of the players, give the best possible service to the club and become better and better.

"I know, I repeat, in this profession, one day I will get the sack or leave but I don’t know when that is going to happen."
