The PGA of America needs people to work the postponed Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits in September.
The golf organization is looking for people to help before, during and after the tournament in Kohler from Sept. 21 to 26. People who are interested in working with the PGA for the event can register at PGA.com through July 28.
The temporary positions are both part-time and full-time around the Ryder Cup. The PGA is looking for people to work in hospitality, concessions, retail, transportation, logistics, construction, janitorial and other services.
The PGA lists 18 positions that it seeks to fill like audio engineer, brand ambassador, prep cook and dishwasher.
People who register online will be considered for positions leading up to, during and after the Ryder Cup. Vendors will contact qualified candidates in August or September to proceed to the next stage of the hiring process.
Ryder Cup officials said they anticipate hiring around 1,300 people to work the event. This is similar to historical Ryder Cup numbers.
Additional positions will be hired directly through service providers.
“We are committed to developing a golf industry supply chain that mirrors America,” said PGA of America Chief People Officer Sandy Cross in a news release. “PGA JobMatch is a way for us to positively impact the citizens of the communities that host our spectator championships. We believe one of the greatest impacts we can make is to create job opportunities in Wisconsin around the Ryder Cup.”
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, hold a valid driver’s license, be able to pass a background check and have their own local lodging and transportation.
The Ryder Cup has historically attracted around 50,000 spectators. The officials planning this year’s tournament are not providing a specific number of attendees that it expects at Whistling Straits.
“Our plan is to host the 43rd Ryder Cup with full-spectator attendance,” the officials said.
