Nectar Premier Hybrid vs DreamCloud Premier Hybrid mattress: Which middle of the range hybrid should you buy on Labor Day?

Composite image showing the Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress and the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid mattress, both on beds in bedrooms.

Sitting in the middle of the range in the hybrid lineups of their respective brands, the Nectar Premier Hybrid and DreamCloud Premier Hybrid are two supportive and comfortable hybrid mattresses that will appeal to a wide range of sleepers. But which mattress is the right fit for you?

Both brands feature in our best mattress round up and are renowned for their high-quality beds at permanently discounted prices. You’ll never pay full price for either the Nectar or the DreamCloud, meaning that there’s no need to wait for a major mattress sale to invest. And, although the DreamCloud is fractionally cheaper than the Nectar, both mattresses have much to recommend them.

In this Nectar Premier Hybrid vs DreamCloud Premier Hybrid, we’ll look under the covers of both mattresses to help you decide which is the right mattress to buy in the Labor Day mattress sales. Let’s get started…

Nectar Premier Hybrid vs DreamCloud Premier Hybrid: Price and trial

  • Both mattresses have permanent discounts and are never sold at MSRP
  • At major sales events we’ve sometimes seen free bedding bundles on offer
  • You’ll get a 365-night trial and lifetime warranty with both mattresses

Nectar and DreamCloud are both owned by the same parent company, which means you will see a lot of similarities between the two mattresses. Both are always discounted, and you’ll get the same set of extras whichever you buy. The Nectar Premier Hybrid is always on sale for $1,099 (MSRP $2,313) for a queen size, along with a discounted bedding bundle. You’ll also get a 365-night trial, lifetime warranty and free shipping and returns.

Permanent DreamCloud mattress sales mean you’ll never pay full price for the DreamCloud Premier either, and a queen will cost $999 (MSRP $2,313) – $100 less than the Nectar. Right now you can get it with a bedding bundle included, but if that's no longer the cased by the time you read this, you'll be able to buy the bundle at a discount alongside your mattress. You will get the same 365-night trial, lifetime warranty and free shipping and returns that you get with the Nectar.

Nectar Premier Hybrid vs DreamCloud Premier Hybrid mattress: Materials & design

  • Both mattresses are 13” in height
  • The Nectar has four layers along with a top and bottom cover
  • The DreamCloud also has four layers and a top and bottom cover

Both the Nectar and DreamCloud mattresses are 13” high but have slightly different designs. The Nectar starts with a soft cover with cooling fibers to help regulate temperature. Underneath this, you’ll find pressure-relieving memory foam to cushion the body, followed by a layer of responsive support foam for spinal alignment and support. This sits on top of the individually wrapped innerspring coil layer for motion isolation and edge support. The mattress is finished up with a layer of durable foundation foam and a heavy duty bottom cover to keep the mattress in shape.

In contrast, the DreamCloud start with a Euro top cover with cooling fibers and stitched in foam for a cushioned feel. Underneath you’ll find therapeutic memory foam to contour to the body and an adaptive support layer of responsive foam for support and spinal alignment. Up next is the layer of individually wrapped innerspring coils for support and motion isolation. The DreamCloud is finished off with a thin layer of dense foam for stability and a durable bottom cover to prevent shifting of the layers. The foams in both mattresses are CertiPUR-US certified.

Nectar Premier Hybrid vs DreamCloud Premier Hybrid mattress: Comfort & support

  • Both mattresses are medium firm
  • The Nectar Premier Hybrid is rated at 6.5 out of 10 for firmness
  • The DreamCloud Premier Hybrid is rated at 7.5 out of 10

Both the Nectar and DreamCloud have undergone a slight redesign since we tested them, but we expect the feel to be much the same. The Nectar is supportive for sleepers up to 240lbs, and in our Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress review, our testers found that the mattress offered plenty of support for bigger bodies thanks to its thick comfort system. It’s particularly suited to both side and back sleepers, with decent pressure relief where it’s needed and the spine kept aligned. However, we wouldn’t recommend this mattress to side stomach sleepers as it’s not firm enough to keep the hips lifted.

The DreamCloud Premier Hybrid is another mattress that’s ideal for heavier sleepers and we think it’s one of the best mattresses for heavy people you can buy, with the enhanced support keeping them from sinking too far into the bed. It’s incredibly well suited to back sleepers, with strong support at the hips and the same quick adaptation around the lower lumbar region for spinal alignment and pressure relief.

In our DreamCloud Premier Hybrid mattress review, we did find that the firmness of this mattress was a little more subjective, with some lighter weight sleepers finding it a little too firm. However, the new version of the mattress has added in a Euro top cover, which should add some more softness that will appeal to side sleepers. Be aware that motion isolation is better on the Nectar mattress, but the DreamCloud does have superior edge support.

Nectar Premier Hybrid vs DreamCloud Premier Hybrid mattress: Temperature control

  • Both mattresses use cooling fibers in their covers
  • 8” coils in both mattresses help with airflow
  • Hybrid design helps to keep both mattresses breathable

Both the Nectar and the DreamCloud follow a similar approach to keeping sleepers cool with the use of cooling fibers woven into the covers to help wick away moisture and promote breathability.

As hybrids, both mattresses are naturally more breathable than their all-foam siblings and the use of a high 8” coil layer in both options means there’s plenty of space for air to flow freely and prevent heat being trapped between the layers. However, neither bed is designed specifically to keep temperatures down, so if you’re a very hot sleeper we’d recommend investing in one of the best cooling mattresses instead.

Nectar Premier Hybrid vs DreamCloud Premier Hybrid mattress: Which should you buy?

Buy the Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress if…

You share a bed: The Nectar excelled at motion isolation, with our tester barely noticing her partner shifting around or getting out of bed.

You sleep warm: Although both mattresses do a decent job of temperature regulation, we think the Nectar just edges things.

You want a true medium firm mattress: Like the best medium firm mattresses, the Nectar cushions where needed whilst still providing support for the spine and lumbar region.

Buy the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid mattress if…

You want better edge support: The reinforced coils along the edge of the mattress give the DreamCloud superior edge support.

You want to spend slightly less: There’s only a $100 price difference between the mattresses but considering the luxurious look and feel of the DreamCloud, the $999 price tag is a bargain – and it’s cheaper than the Nectar.

You want a little sink-in softness: The addition of a Euro top cover to the redesigned mattress means you can expect a little more cushioning that will be ideal for soothing pressure points.
