Nebraska nose tackle perfectly intercepts bad shovel pass against Purdue

There was no way Darrion Daniels was missing this ball.

Purdue quarterback Jack Plummer couldn’t have tossed it any more perfectly into the Nebraska nose tackle’s arms if Daniels was the intended receiver. And the 6-foot-4, 340-pound senior capitalized on his unexpected first-quarter opportunity, intercepting the pass on 2nd-and-11 at Purdue’s own 22-yard line.

Daniels returned it for 18 yards before going down just two shy of the end zone, which is a bummer for this awesome big-man play. And unfortunately for the Cornhuskers — who entered the game with a 4-4 record — they had to settle for a field goal on the drive and took a 10-0 lead late in the first quarter.

But Daniels’ interception was the clear early highlight of this Big Ten West matchup in West Lafayette. Here’s another angle:

Purdue’s Plummer entered the game with just six interceptions on the season and threw two in the first half against Nebraska.
