Neath RFC condemn former 'guest' player who attacked a stranger leaving him badly injured

Neath RFC have condemned the actions of former 'guest' player Stefan Bond after he was pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm without intent.

Stefan Carl Bond, who plays for Skewen RFC and has previously featured for the Welsh All Blacks, attacked Paul McQueen, at 3am on June 30 last year.

The victim's injuries were so severe it left his three-year-old daughter frightened of him.

A court heard the attack occurred after Bond became jealous as Mr McQueen was in the company of a girl he had also been associated with.

Bond was given a 36-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.

He was also ordered to carry out 200 hours unpaid work, and made to pay £1,500 to Mr McQueen in compensation.

Following the court hearing, Neath RFC have issued a statement in which they condemn the actions of Bond.

A statement read: "Neath RFC condemns the actions of Stefan Bond who has been convicted of GBH following an unprovoked attack on another man in June 2018.

"Bond is not a Neath RFC player but has featured as a guest player on a couple of occasions."
