Neath Port Talbot Council sends urgent Covid warning to public after Castle Bingo virus case

Visitors to a bingo hall in Neath have been warned they are at risk of infection from Covid after a player tested positive for the virus.

Neath Port Talbot Council's test, trace, protect service has issued the warning after an individual attending Castle Bingo in Neath on Monday, May 17 was confirmed to have coronavirus.

Anyone who visited the venue that evening is urged to be mindful of the symptoms of the virus - and anyone with symptoms is required to stay home before and after having a test until they receive a negative result.

Symptoms are similar to those for flu, including muscle ache, blocked nose and sore throat, shortness of breath or wheezing.

The warning comes as the number of cases of the Indian coronavirus variant has more than doubled in the last week in Wales.

Last week, there were 11 cases of the variant of concern, called VOC-21APR-02, but this has now leapt to 25 by Tuesday, May 18.

A spokesman for the service said: "If you get a positive Covid-19 result, you and your household must then isolate.

"Households must also isolate if anyone develops any of the 3 classic Covid-19 symptoms while waiting for a test result taken on wider symptoms to come back".
