Neasden fire: Body found after huge fire in derelict warehouse

A body has been found in a derelict warehouse after a huge fire engulfed it overnight, the London Fire Brigade said.

Ten fire engines and about 70 firefighters raced to the fire on North Circular Road, in Neasden, after being called at 2.30am on Wednesday morning.

Dramatic pictures showed flames tearing through the building as smoke billowed into the night sky as firefighters battled to control the blaze.

LFB said 17 people were evacuated from neighbouring properties as a precaution, but search and rescue crews “found the body of a person inside the property”.

The force added: “The whole of the building was damaged by the fire.

“London Fire Brigade Urban Search and Rescue crews used specialist equipment and found the body of a person inside the property. They have sadly been pronounced dead at the scene.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Station Manager Robbie Robertson, who was at the scene, said: "Firefighters worked extremely hard overnight to prevent the fire spreading to an adjacent building.”
