Nearly half of London office workers 'get less than 30 minutes of sunlight a day during winter'

Almost half of London office workers only receive up to 30 minutes of sunlight a day during the winter, new research has found.

Some 46 per cent of those working in the office in the capital said they get less than half an hour of sunlight a day during shorter winter days.

And two‐thirds of people estimated they receive less than an hour of sunlight a day, according to the same study.

The survey, of 2,001 people in the UK, including 521 from London, also found that 11 per cent in the capital receive no sunlight at all.

Around half of Londoners agree that a lack of sun leaves them feeling deflated.

The research by Sol comes ahead of the clocks going forward on Sunday, spelling the end of daylight saving time until March next year.

The beer brand are opening a pop up bar in Shoreditch, which will try and replicate the summertime weather using special lamps to give off the effect of sunlight between October 24 and 26.

Experts have said that Vitamin D from sunlight is crucial in helping the body absorb calcium and phosphate from our diet which are important in keeping bones, teeth and muscles healthy.
