Nearly 200,000 stolen Cadbury's Creme Eggs worth £40,000 found on M42

Almost 200,000 Cadbury Creme Eggs worth £40,000 have been recovered by police after they were stolen by a sweet-toothed thief from a unit. The items were taken in Stafford Park, Telford, last Saturday (February 11), with a number of other chocolate products also stolen.

West Mercia Police stopped a vehicle on the M42, before arresting a 32-year-old man on suspicion of theft, Birmingham Live reports.

A force spokesman said: "West Mercia Police has helped save Easter for Crème Egg fans after almost 200,000 of the chocolate treats were stolen from a unit in Stafford Park in Telford. The eggs-travagent theft took place on Saturday 11 February with the chocolate collection box thought to be worth around £40,000.

"Along with the crème eggs a number of other chocolate varieties were also stolen. Shortly after the theft a vehicle, presumably purporting to be the Easter bunny, was stopped northbound on the M42 and a 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft."

On Monday afternoon (February 13), Telford Police said that Joby Poole had been charged with criminal damage and two counts of theft in relation to the incident.
