Nearly 17% of UP’s eligible population gets both vaccine shots

LUCKNOW: Nearly 17% of UP’s population eligible for Covid-19 vaccination has taken both the doses of the vaccine, suggests data from the state health department. However, officials point out that despite the surge in the number of people taking vaccine doses, adherence to the Covid-19 prevention protocol is necessary.

As per the data from Co-Win portal, the total number of doses administered in the state was 11.74 crore. In all, 9.21 crore people have taken at least one dose, while 2.53 crore have got both the doses. The target before UP is to vaccinate 15.04 crore persons.

Meanwhile, 11 new cases and 15 recoveries were reported in the state in the past 24 hours. Officials pointed out that the state was left with 139 active cases of which nearly 85% were under home isolation while the remaining 15% were hospitalised.

The Data from the Covid-19 bulletin indicated that 45% of the total active cases in the state were reported from just three districts including Lucknow (31), Gautam Budh Nagar (16) and Prayagraj (15). It also showed that the 39 districts in the state are free from any active case of the infection, while 13 districts are left with just one active case each. Officials said that the state’s recovery rate hovered around 98.7% and the death rate was 1.3%. Health officials warned against carelessness against the pandemic infection and its protection protocol especially during festive season.
