Nearly 100 hostages were killed at the Le Bataclan Concert Hall in Paris on Friday.
American rock band Eagles of Death Metal were schedule to play at the concert hall and escaped just as the shooting began.
Mary Lou Dorio — the mother of Julian Dorio, the band's dummer — told the Washington Post that her son is safe. Julian was able to phone his family at a nearby police station as he left his cellphone on stage.
The California-based rock band is was formed by Josh Homme and Jesse Hughes in 1998.
One witness who escaped the venue told The Independnet that "there was blood everywhere. They were firing automatic rifles into the crowd.”
Andrew Smith, another witness living next to to the venue, said that he heard shouting "policemen" and "women weeping."
"Bataclan is immediately behind our apartment building: I can't see but can hear what's happening there: shouting policemen, women weeping," the witness wrote on Twitter.
Police rushed into the theatre where two gunmen were reportedly holding 100 hostages. Both attackers were killed by police and the hostages were released, France24 reports.
Nearly 160 people died in the attacks, comprised of several shootings and explosions. The assailants were reportedly carrying Kalashnikov rifles.
