Near naked Glasgow man found hiding inside roll of linoleum in his boxer shorts

A man who broke into his girlfriend's house was found by police in his boxer shorts wrapped in a roll of linoleum.

Christopher McDonald entered Melissa McDonald’s property in Glasgow’s Penilee after earlier being caught trying to climb through a window.

She returned home to find items belonging to the 27-year-old in the property and contacted the police.

Officers showed up and found the almost naked intruder hiding under a worktop.

McDonald pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and breaching bail conditions.

The court heard the pair were together for four years.

Melissa heard a banging coming from outside at 4pm on September 19, 2020.

She clocked McDonald trying to get in through a window but she did not want him to gain entry.

Melissa closed the window before leaving the property and retuned an hour later.

She noticed there was a package in the property that did not belong to her.

Melissa also spotted trainers belong to McDonald which made her call 999.

Prosecutor Jenny Reid said: “On entering the kitchen, the officers observed McDonald’s shoulder sticking out from rolled up linoleum.

“This had been stored under a kitchen worktop.

“The linoleum was removed and officers found McDonald in it wrapped up in a ball while in a state of undress with only his boxers on.”

McDonald then grabbed a knife before being arrested by police.

Joanne McMillan, defending, told the court that McDonald was intoxicated through drink and drugs.

The lawyer added: “He is extremely sorry for his actions.”

Sheriff Simone Sweeney tagged McDonald, of the city’s Dennistoun, for 163 days keeping him indoors between 7pm and 7am.

He was also ordered to do 180 hours of unpaid work and put under supervision for 12 months.
