Neal Ardley thrilled with impact made by Notts County new boy Regan Booty

Neal Ardley was thrilled with the impact made by new midfielder Regan Booty, and says his arrival gives Notts County plenty of tactical options for the season ahead.

The midfielder produced an impressive performance on his debut just a day after he signed on a free transfer by registering an assist for Enzio Boldewijn’s goal in a 2-0 win at Harrogate.

Booty won plenty of acclaim from fans for his performance, which helped Notts to secure their first victory of the National League season.

Ardley was pleased with what he witnessed from the 21-year-old and while he brings quality in possession, the Notts boss says it gives him greater tactical freedom.

“Regan was very good and he can even play left-back if we need him to, not that we are weak in that area,” he said.

“Regan has a lovely left foot which is why we put him on the deliveries.

“We watched lots of him at Aldershot last season, and he puts himself about.

“He can see a pass and we just feel we have options now which means we can play a three in midfield if we want or a diamond with a 10.

“The one area we are probably weak in is the target man and a wide player still.”
