Neal Ardley says governing bodies yet to advise Notts County over coronavirus

Notts County manager Neal Ardley says they are yet to receive any guidance from football’s governing bodies over the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Last week it emerged that the Premier League are set to hold talks amid fears the season could end early, with games in Italy already being suspended to help contain the outbreak.

English football has yet to be affected, but Newcastle United have banned handshakes from players in training as the number of cases in the UK rose to 40 on Monday.

The Scottish FA and Scottish Professional Football League, meanwhile, have formed a joint response group to address any effects of coronavirus.

Notts manager Ardley says they will heed any advice given by the government and footballing authorities with Prime Minister Boris Johnson declaring that “people should go about their business as usual”.

“We’ve had nothing at the moment,” he said.

“Most people are waiting for the government to start the process and everyone will follow from that.

“We are watching from afar to find out what needs to be done, if anything.

“We will be guided by the governing bodies as and when they have a plan going forward.”
