Neal Ardley's impassioned battle cry to Notts County fans ahead of Northampton clash

Neal Ardley had words of praise for Notts County’s travelling supporters who roared them onto a crucial 3-0 success at Stevenage on Saturday.

He does, however, want to see the positivity generated by those fans at the Lamex Stadium continue at Meadow Lane next weekend, calling on them to get behind his battling outfit in what is likely to be a pivotal occasion.

Ardley’s Magpies were booed off after losing in stoppage time against 10-man Exeter in their last Meadow Lane outing, and the manager hopes the comprehensive nature of performance and result at Stevenage will boost the home fans against Northampton on Saturday, knowing a win could move them out of the relegation zone.

“It’s brilliant, but we need that at home as well,” said the Notts boss.

“Last week against Exeter, I thought it was harsh on the boys.

“I know people expect you to beat 10 men, but the effort the boys put into it was excellent, they just didn’t have that final touch or bit of quality.

“We got booed off because of the one mistake which cost us and I thought that was harsh.

Attacking meeting proved to be a masterstroke for Notts County, admits Enzio Boldewijn

“Let’s get behind us.

“We need everyone on board to make this happen.

“We’re playing well, since February 1, I’d be pretty confident that we’d be a top eight or top nine team and they (the fans) have got to get behind them and realise that.”
