Neal Ardley reveals who he wants Notts County to play in FA Cup second round

Neal Ardley wants Notts County to pit their wits against a Football League side in the FA Cup second round to get a "measure" of how far his team have progressed this season.

The Magpies booked their place in Monday's draw thanks to a thrilling 3-2 win against Ebbsfleet at the weekend which saw Ben Turner score an injury-time header.

Magpies fans are now dreaming of a derby against Mansfield in what could be a sensational tie after the Stags also made it through courtesy of their win over Chorley.

And Ardley says he would love an EFL side at at Meadow Lane to get an understanding of the quality of his Notts team that have lost just three of their last 18 games.

"Do you know what I would like?" said Ardley.

"I would like a League One or a League Two team at home.

"I would like to measure ourselves against a team from the Football League.

"Obviously we want to get through to the third round, but I'd also like to see where we are as a team.

"We'd a have a right go at it, get the  fans down there and see if we can get a glamour tie after that."
