Neal Ardley reveals Notts County defender Ben Turner 'may have had touch of sepsis'

Notts County manager Neal Ardley has revealed  how Ben Turner was taken to hospital last week and says the defender “may have had a touch of sepsis”.

The Magpies’ centre-back has been out of action with a hamstring problem in the last few weeks, but  complained of feeling unwell and was admitted to hospital on Friday night.

Tests showed Turner had contracted an infection and he was subsequently put on a drip.

He has since left hospital to go home where he is now recuperating.

Ardley said: “Ben has had a bad time of it.

“He was quite badly ill and was in hospital on Friday night.

“He had the shakes and did not feel good.

“He found out he had an infection and he was put on a drip. I think he may even had a touch of sepsis at one point.

“Ben is out of hospital now, but the timing was good in a way because it didn’t happen while he was fit and looking to play.

“He’s not been great. He’s still got a few weeks to recover from his hamstring as well.”
